Hi, I’m Shaoyang.
I’m a computer science graduate student who enjoys using data, code, and AI to understand difficult problems and make everyday work a little simpler.
A little about my background
I studied Applied Mathematics and Quantitative Science at Emory University, where I worked on global optimization research and student data science projects. I’m now pursuing a Master’s in Computer Science at the University of Chicago, with a focus on artificial intelligence.
My professional experience has taken me through energy, automotive, telecommunications, and technology. At Rystad Energy, I built market reports, automated recurring workflows, and designed an AI-assisted SQL tool. At CarMax and in earlier roles at Ericsson and Raise3D, I worked with business analysis, data quality, dashboards, and forecasting.
I’m most interested in AI-assisted development, automation, and small software products that make complicated or repetitive work easier. This website is where I share the practical experiments that grow from those interests.
What I like to work on
I like projects that sit between technical detail and real human use: cleaning up a difficult process, making information easier to understand, or testing whether a new tool can solve a familiar problem. I usually work with Python, SQL, Excel, Power BI, and AI coding tools.
Outside of work
I enjoy skiing, squash, running, playing piano, gaming, cooking, and traveling. I like trying new things, learning through practice, and finding the small details that make an activity more satisfying.
